Buffalo Creek Guitar Open Mic Night Series returns to Crute Stage
Live music returns to historic downtown Farmville as The Buffalo Creek Guitar Open Mic Night Series presented by Downtown Farmville takes place at the Crute Stage on the first Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m.
The open microphone performances are scheduled for April 4, May 2, June 6, July 4, Aug. 1, Sept. 5 and Oct. 3. Crute Stage is located at the corner of Main and Fourth Streets in Farmville.
The performances are free and open to the public.
Musicians interested in performing may sign up at 6 p.m. The first set will occur at 7 p.m. and the final set will be at 8:45 p.m. Each act will have the opportunity to perform two or three songs. All types of music are welcome as long as they are free of cursing and vulgarity.
Microphones, direct boxes, and a few small amps will be provided. Any other needs are the responsibility of the individual performer. If performers have special setup requirements, they should call Gary Hickman at Buffalo Creek Guitar at 315-8911.
Open Mic Night is a family-friendly event. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and, of course, instruments.
Centra Southside Community is generously underwriting the Open Mic Night Series. Other sponsors include Buffalo Creek Guitar Company, Hospital, Caryn’s Bridals, Formals, & Tuxedos, Charley’s Waterfront Café, Davenport & Company LLC, El Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, Holistic Moms Network Southside Virginia Chapter, Kinex Networking Solutions, Northwestern Mutual Insurance, Real Living Cornerstone and Virginia Credit Union.
Buffalo Creek Open Mic was established in 2006 when Buffalo Creek Guitar Company opened. Over the years, all types of music have been presented on stage, including singer/songwriters, small electric groups, jazz, bluegrass, old time, reggae, and Celtic bands. The series has previously taken place in the Buffalo Creek store, but Downtown Farmville brings it to the Crute Stage during the warmer months so that a larger audience may enjoy the talents of community members.
